VICTORIAN HOME BUILT IN THE 1880's ON 100 X 200 LOT LOCATED NEAR BUFFALO PEAK GOLF COURSE, EASTERN OREGON UNIVERSITY AND HOT LAKE HOTEL AND HOT SPRING.

Updates that have been made have always been made without losing the class and beauty of this Victorian home.  The entire home is built of cedar (no termites!) and has a themed color scheme that makes this home outstanding!  The exterior has both a front and back covered porch and an additional built deck on the back and a balcony in the back that is accessed through an upstairs bedroom.

Upon entry, one cannot help but imagine a time when visitors alighted from a horse drawn coach and were greeted in the large entry room to remove their coats and then escorted into the formal parlor.  From there, the guests could take in the beautifully landscaped yard out of the bay windows and enjoy the warmth of a blazing fire (no parlor stove now).  Dinner was then served in the formal dining room where the guests could view items in the built in hutch.  After dinner, the guests could retire to the living room that is graced by a wood stove from the original era and enjoy an after dinner drink and conversation.  If the weather was warm, the front porch could also be a gathering place for rocking, talking and watching the walkers stroll by on their way to the City Park at the end of the street.

The medium sized kitchen is adequate for most cooking and includes a breakfast nook that overlooks the bird feeders.  Seller is leaving all appliances including refrigerator, stove, portable dishwasher, and large upright freezer.  Off of the kitchen is the laundry room with washer and dryer and off the laundry room is the workshop and cool storage pantry which are both connected to the house.  The downstairs bathroom includes a walk-in bathtub with a hand held shower option.  One final room downstairs is a bonus room that could be used for guests or would make a nice study or craft room.

The second floor includes four bedrooms and a full bath.  One bedroom has a double kitchen sink left over from when the upstairs was used as an apartment.  The house has a furnace both upstairs and downstairs that makes this apartment idea viable as well as keeping the heating bills reasonable.  The upstairs would also be ideal for a  B&B or for extended family or...the possibilities are only limited by your imagination.  The Seller has also included a window air conditioner for the downstairs and a swamp cooler for the second floor.  Don't forget the attic which has blown in insulation and has a partial floor making it ideal for storage.

The details in this home are amazing!  A few examples of those detains are the antique light fixtures, older but functional faucets, the antique looking oaken front door and the vintage but usable wood stove in the family (or living) room.

Like to garden?  There is a very large, already established garden at the back of the back yard and a medium to large greenhouse (glass having been replaced by fiberglass that is produced specifically for greenhouses).  Another "bonus" room is attached to the greenhouse with a separate entrance.  The dutch door and entire room is artistically done and could be used for crafts, a man cave, or a "hen house" for the wife!  At the back of the lot sits a garage that houses one car but has many makings of a good workshop as well as an added shed to the side. The back yard sports a rose garden with trellis, multiple fruit trees, and grape vines.  Other trees abound and the back yard is shaded and cool in the warm summer months. The entire back yard is fenced with antique fencing that is tall enough to be labelled "deer free".

The home is close to the City Park, historic downtown Union, library and the local clinic.  Union boasts the Buffalo Peak Golf Course...one of the newest 18 hole golf course in the area. The course will challenge even the most experienced golfers! Located about 20 miles from Eastern Oregon University.

Union is located on the Southeastern edge of the Grande Ronde Valley.  It was the site of the county's first nursery, with apple and pear trees brought in from Vancouver, Washington in about 1862.  The area now is rich in farming activity and ranching.  Union also boasts the oldest livestock show (Eastern Oregon Livestock Show and Rodeo) in the state of Oregon where there are horse races, and FFA/4-H clubs show their livestock each year. Grass Roots Festival is downtown fun for the whole family with food, venders and music in the park.

Union is a town of approximately 2,000 people which has that "home town" feel and is surrounded by trees and mountains. There are plenty of recreational opportunities including Catherine Creek State Park (great for a picnic, or hiking), Eagle Cap Wilderness with hiking and horse trails, Anthony Lakes (hiking, camping, picnics, and winter sports like downhill and cross-country skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling).  There are also several reservoirs for boating and swimming as well as a short 55 miles to the Snake River).

Union and this Victorian home would be a great place to live!!
